Taxes should be indirect

Back to Rules to live by

Now I don't know a lot about Taxation, but this is what I reckon and ONLY The Singaporean Government is listening to me - From South China Morning Post of 04/05/2002 - "Singapore yesterday announced the most far-reaching overhaul of its tax system in more than a decade, confirming it will cut direct corporate and personal taxes while raising indirect levies.

bullet

There should be no direct taxation - on your salary

bullet

There should be no Capital gains, inheritance and other taxes

What there should be, is a tax on things you buy - only.

Call it VAT/GST or whatever, and it should be collected from Registered Companies - based on their "Sales", as shown in their audited accounts.

Advantages:

bullet

Government collects from fewer, identifiable sources - not millions of individuals

bullet

Only 1 type of Tax to be administered

bullet

Less depressing for salary earners, investors etc.. where the difference between their Gross and Net can be a source of disappointment.

bullet

Puts the decision to pay or not pay, in the hands of the individual

There are no disadvantages......!!
