Some mysteries explained

Following the strategy of "clearing the decks" - getting rid of beliefs that are a waste of time and effort - here are some other things you never need to think about again - because...?? - They don't exist!!

Ghosts - a human being is a complex mixture of chemicals and electricity. When it dies - the electricity gets turned off and the chemicals (largely) stop moving around its body. There is no soul, there is no spirit, there is no "life force" - shame that all that it has experienced is now just discarded, but that's the way it is. Furniture moving, chills up your backbone, haunted houses - have nothing to do with ghosts (because they don't exist) and everything to do with "wanting to believe in something" - so stop wanting to believe!

Afterlife - there is no such thing. When we die, its like the electricity being turned off - the light goes out. Nothing goes on.. nothing goes anywhere (except into the ground or the crematorium). Think how crowded heaven (and especially hell) would be after all these years.

UFO's - probably initially each "sighting" is honest and believable - thereafter the money-makers/sensation seekers move in. Roswell would never have been heard of - if not for some crash back in 1947 - which was used by the money-makers etc.. to their own ends (whatever they may have been). Now - that small town and surrounding deserted land plays host to (takes money from) many, many visitors each year.

Loch Ness Monster, Bigfoot etc... - Nice stories, jerky amateur films all help the myth and keep the idea in people's minds - so that money can be made.

Feng Shui - its probably true, that a house facing in a certain direction would catch wind or sun in a particular way - and that could be described as "good" or "bad" - e.g. a lot of people don't like a house/flat where the sitting room gets direct sunlight in the afternoon/evening (i.e. is West facing), because it gets too hot. Such beliefs may be sensible and add to comfort, reduced costs etc. Where a situation gets described using physical terms (wall, sun, wind etc..) - OK, but when it gets described using terms like "spirit", "bad demons", "dragons", "bad fortune" etc.. then its bunkum and to be ignored.

Fortune tellers - reading your palm, astrology etc... all rubbish!! My good mate Wal once had a job writing horoscopes for a nationally famous astrologer. When told what he had to do - he explained that he had no training or knowledge of astrology, and therefore couldn't write meaningful, ?true? horoscopes, he was told "don't worry about that, write anything you like". Money-making scams!!
