Apparently, up Alaska way, male Elk gather a few thousand feet up mountains, in groups.

Whilst the female Elk and young ones, gather in the valleys.

At some biological time - both groups start walking 4,000 Kms - North. The boys - up there - and the girls - down there - they don't mingle!!

When they reach their destination - months later - the boys come down into the valleys.

Meet up with the girls, have a party for a few days, and go back up the mountain.

Both groups then walk 4,000 Kms back to where they started.

What could be more perfect?? A nest??
